3 vanilla beans
1 cup vodka**
Pour vodka into an airtight container I used a mason jar. Split vanilla beans down length but leave one end together. Put vanilla beans into jar and put on lid. Store in a dark place and give a shake once a week. In 6-8 weeks you will have your own vanilla.
When it turns a dark carmel color it is ready. I have heard of people adding a bit of sugar to sweeten it a bit for the finish.
**You could also make this with bourbon if you would rather. I am going to give it a try too.
