Turnovers


For the party on Thursday night I made apple and pear turnovers. I didn’t have a recipe though I am sure there are plenty of them out there. I love turnovers they are like mini pies that you don’t have share, and we all know that sharing can be overrated.

To Make:

Thaw two sheets of puff pastry per directions on box. Once thawed, unfold and cut each sheet into quarters.

Peel and core a pear (mine was large, and under ripe, but perfect once cooked) and an apple, then slice into pieces. I kept my separate but you can mix if you choose. (I tend to be a purist)

Place a small mound of fruit on each square then sprinkle on 1/2 tablespoon of sugar. On two edges wet down slightly with water (this is like glue that keeps it all together) fold into a triangle and crimp edges. When done you can leave them in the triangle shape or take points and fold behind.

Cut a small slit in the top of each one and sprinkle with more sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes until they start to turn golden.

Serve by themselves or with whipped cream or some yummy vanilla ice cream. Either way they are delicious.

Note:
These would be great with any fruit that you have. You could also add Cinnamon to the apple to make it more like pie. You may have to adjust the amount of sugar dependent on how ripe your fruit is and how sweet it is.
